Adam Scott Collegiate Student Tops on Runway at Toronto Modelling Competition
By Kennedy Gordon
Serena H. wasn't expecting anything special to happen when she took part in the Canadian Model & Talent Convention in Toronto last weekend.
But Serena ended up doing well and attracted attention from international modelling agencies along the way.
"It was after the runway competition," the Grade 11 Adam Scott Collegiate student said. "I knew I'd given it a lot of confidence."
When her name was announced as the first place model in the runway competition, she was thrilled. But it wasn't over. She was also named first in photography, and to cap it off, overall division winner for female teens.
Serena heads to Belleville on Monday to meet with her agency, Mode Elle, to consider some of the overtures made by other agencies. Agents from Milan, Tokyo, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and Montreal have made contact with her.
"We're going to talk about what I'll be doing this summer after school's over," she said. "I could end up going to Toronto to get my feet wet, or I could end up going to Italy. In this business, you never know."
Serena said she took up modelling at 12 and it gave her confidence she didn't expect.
"It's more than looks. It gives you all kinds of strengths for everything, for jobs, for life. Everyone should try modelling. It gives you so much."
